but could you play it???? seriously, the basses we have at the mo range from 70/130 pounds second hand and about 150/170 brand new. the new basses are all jim reed, solid ash bodies with kent armstrong pick ups.

They seem to know about the main stream stuff, but still overprice it. Does your BC Rich have a bolt on neck?

we are sash me and dad, sahs bought some import rights for jim reed guitars, now he imports them and sells them to shops, or puts them up on ebay.

Bolt ons are ok....plus if you have any damage you can just buy a new neck instead of a whole new guitar.

My point about it being bolt on was just the fact that it probably makes it a cheap oriental version (akin to Squier) instead of a more expensive American made version. I think you probably paid at best a fair price.
I own two bolt on neck guitars, I don't see anything wrong with the design but set necks do look more classy. By the way, a good luthier should be able to repair a broken set neck or install a new one in the even of an accident. It's just more labour intensive and thus with cost much more than just bolting a new one on and adjusting.
